NIST Level 2 security with Digital Signature API

Originally developed to support title and registration forms with an odometer statement, VituSign provides the Digital Signature API with NIST Level 2 security for title and registration documents. More robust than your typical electronic signature — Digital Signatures provides an additional layer of secure verification for the signers by involving ID verification and proof that the signer is the same person on the ID. It may sound complicated, but in fact, it’s all very easy and somewhat fun. Plus, it’s available for use with mobile devices.

In addition, electronic signatures are available for those circumstances not requiring extra security. Easy-to-implement API calls include the form or forms being signed, where to sign and who is signing it.

How Digital Signatures with VituSign works

Some documents require extra security — you must verify that the person signing really is who they claim to be. In person, that’s easy: they show you a government ID, you look at their face.

For digital signatures, such verification is more complicated. But VituSign makes it simple, for you and the person signing.

VituSign — receive a notification

Secure documents are packaged and sent to the signer, who is then notified.

The signer then takes a picture of their government-issued ID, which is securely vetted and verified against a government or state database.

VituSign — live photo of your face for verification

The signer centers their face (like a selfie). No photo is taken: we just verify that the signer's face matches the government-issued photo on record.

The signer draws or types a signature that is used on the forms.

The VituSign API adapts intuitively to any form, and we let you keep it simple. If one form requires fully secure verification, send it with full NIST Level 2 security. If another form doesn’t, send it with q simple electronic signature. No extra steps.

Once everything is set up the way you need it, the VituPay API initiates and finalizes the signing process.
